A bit about The Campanile Bell Tower in Venice

Sometime ago I visited Venice for a week or so and whilst there I took time out to paint the The Campanile Bell Tower in the early evening.

The Campanile of Santo Stefano in Venice is a striking 66-meter bell tower, known for its noticeable tilt due to unstable foundations. Built in the 13th century and reconstructed in the 15th century, it belongs to the Church of Santo Stefano, a Gothic landmark in the San Marco district. The tower’s red-brick structure, elegant design, and scenic views make it a significant architectural feature.

Despite its lean, it remains standing, symbolising Venice’s resilience. Visitors admire its beauty from nearby canals, making it a hidden gem in the city’s skyline. It stands as a testament to Venetian craftsmanship and history.
